The Professional Standards Section ensures that educators are properly credentialed and provides technical assistance to school districts, teachers, and college administrators in the area of teacher certification. Its mission is to provide quality service toward the certification of educators.

Effective July 1, 2009, licenses and certificates will be $50.00 and both will be valid for 5 years. This change includes renewals. The fee to print a duplicate or a license/certificate with a name or degree change will be $25.00. All degree changes require official transcripts.

Testing: Inquiries regarding teacher testing should be directed to the Oklahoma Commission for Teacher Preparation, the agency with statutory authority for teacher assessment.

For individuals who did not complete a teacher education program but have at least a baccalaureate degree corresponding to a specified area (see application for areas)
Application for Adding Areas to License/Certificate by Testing (pdf) For individuals who have passed a test for another subject.
Application for Oklahoma Paraprofessional Teaching Credential (pdf)  
Application for Oklahoma School Certificate (pdf) For educators with at least one year of verified teaching experience in a state or regionally accredited school.
Application for Oklahoma School License (pdf) For educators who completed a teacher education program after February 1, 1982, and have zero years of teaching experience in a state or regionally accredited school. May be used for initial licensure or renewal.
Application for Renewal of Oklahoma Standard Certificate (pdf) For renewal of a standard (five-year) certificate.

Summary of Professional Development Inservice Training for Certification Renewal (pdf)  
Verification of Employment (pdf) For individuals required to complete one year of successful employment to move from one- or two- year certificate to a standard certificate.
